Free AI Voice Generator — Text to Speech, Unlimited & Private

A free, unlimited text-to-speech voice generator that runs entirely in your browser using the open Kokoro-82M model. Paste a script — no length limit — pick a voice, and generate natural narration with subtitles built in. Built for faceless YouTube and Shorts creators who need a free TTS that's actually free: no monthly credits, no character caps, no signup, and nothing uploaded. Kokoro's voices are Apache-2.0 licensed, so the audio you generate is fine to use in monetized videos (this isn't legal advice — platform policies on AI content still apply separately).

Need the reverse? Turn a recording into an editable transcript with our free audio & video transcriber. Need text from an image instead? Our free OCR text extractor runs the same way — entirely in your browser, with no page limits.

How it works

Three steps, no account required

  1. Step 1

    Paste your script

Write or paste your script into the editor — no character limit. A blank line between paragraphs adds a slightly longer pause when it's narrated.

  2. Step 2

    Pick a voice

Choose from American or British, female or male voices, and preview any of them on a sample line before committing. Adjust speed and pause length to taste.

  3. Step 3

    Download MP3 + subtitles

Generate the narration — playback starts before a long script even finishes — then download it as MP3 or WAV, plus SRT and VTT subtitle files built from the real audio timing.

Why it's different

What sets this apart from typical free text-to-speech tools

Truly unlimited

No monthly character allowance and no credit system — generate as much narration as you want.

Private by design

Your script is processed on your device using an in-browser AI model — never uploaded anywhere.

No signup

Nothing to create, nothing to remember. Open the page and start writing.

Commercial-use friendly

Kokoro's voices are Apache-2.0 licensed, so the audio is fine to use in monetized videos — platform content policies still apply separately.

Subtitles included

SRT and VTT files are generated from the narration's real timing in one click — no separate captioning tool needed.

What you can create

Built for faceless creators and more

Faceless YouTube narration

Turn a script into a full video voiceover without appearing on camera — a common format for history, facts, and story-recap channels.

Shorts, Reels, and TikTok voiceovers

Generate a short, punchy narration track for vertical video, then export straight to MP3 for your editor.

Explainer and e-learning videos

Narrate a tutorial or course module script, with subtitles generated at the same time for accessibility.

Podcast intros

Generate a consistent, professional-sounding intro or outro without booking studio time.

Proofreading by listening

Hearing your own writing read aloud catches awkward phrasing and typos that silent proofreading misses.

Accessibility

Turn an article or document into audio for listening instead of reading.

Tips for natural-sounding voiceovers

Small changes that noticeably help

  • Write how people talk — short, direct sentences narrate more naturally than dense, formal writing.
  • Use commas for a small pause and a blank line for a longer, paragraph-level pause.
  • Spell out tricky numbers and acronyms as you'd say them ("twenty twenty-six", "A I") — Kokoro reads what's on the page.
  • Try 0.95× speed for a more deliberate, documentary-style pace.
  • Preview two or three voices on your first paragraph before generating the whole script — it's much faster than regenerating later.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about generating AI voiceovers for free

Is it really free and unlimited?
Yes. There's no monthly character or credit allowance, no daily cap, and no signup. The only real limit is what your own device can handle — a very long script will simply take longer and generate in more pieces.
Can I use the audio on a monetized YouTube channel?
Yes — Kokoro's voice models are released under the Apache 2.0 license, which permits commercial use. This isn't legal advice, and YouTube's own policies on repetitive, low-effort, or undisclosed AI-generated content still apply separately from the licensing question — check your platform's current rules before publishing at scale.
Is my script uploaded anywhere?
No. Speech is generated entirely in your browser using an on-device AI model. Your script is never sent to ForgePlug's servers or anyone else's — the only network activity is the one-time model download.
Why is the first generation slow?
The first time you use this tool, your browser downloads the Kokoro voice model (about 90MB on CPU, or 300MB for the higher-quality GPU version) and caches it. After that, it loads instantly from your browser's cache.
Which browsers work best?
Chrome and Edge support WebGPU, which runs the higher-quality model fastest. Safari and Firefox work too, using a slower CPU-based mode with a smaller, still-solid-quality model.
Which languages and voices are available?
English, in American and British accents, across multiple female and male voices. A few voices are flagged "Best for narration" based on Kokoro's own published quality grades for each voice, not a ForgePlug ranking.
How do I get subtitles for my video?
Once your narration finishes, download the SRT or VTT file alongside the audio — both are built from the exact chunk timings of the audio that was generated, so they line up without any manual syncing.
Should I download MP3 or WAV?
MP3 is smaller and works everywhere, including most video editors — a good default. WAV is uncompressed and slightly larger, useful if you're doing further audio processing and want to avoid any compression artifacts.
Does it work offline?
Yes, once the voice model has downloaded and cached the first time. After that, you can generate speech without an internet connection.
Can I clone my own voice or use other languages?
Not in this version — this tool focuses on Kokoro's built-in English voices. Voice cloning and additional languages aren't supported yet.
